My career as a published author began with a range of children's books, largely non-fiction but including flights of fancy in the form of Fisherman Fred and The Gibleteers.

The Gibleteers is the story of a girl whose bedroom ceiling drips blood in the dark and who probes the secrets of the cannibalistic goblins who inhabit her loft.
Mid-career I started writing for adults and made a modern version of The Book of Margery Kempe - the first autobiography in English - and perhaps the most outrageous - dating from about 1430. More recently, I've adapted it as a stage play The Fire of Love, premièred at Wells-next-the-Sea in 2025.
